Morocco: A Motorcycle Paradise

Trip Description

Morocco is more than a destination — it is a crossroads between the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea and the African continent. For motorcyclists it is a true paradise, offering a landscape of striking geological diversity. From the snow-capped Atlas Mountains to the golden dunes of the peri-Saharan regions, every mile promises a new adventure.

Escape to the Atlas is a masterclass in that diversity. You kick-start the engine in Marrakech and aim straight for high ground, navigating the cool, shaded sweeps of cedar and monkey forests — a rare alpine sanctuary in the heart of Africa. The landscape opens into vast high plateaus before dropping into the lush Ziz Palm Valley, the gateway to the Sahara. At Merzouga you trade two wheels for four legs on a sunset camel trek into the silence of the deep desert.

Then the road calls again. You charge across high nomadic steppes towards Todgha Canyon, where limestone walls tower over your handlebars, and carve through the world-famous Dades Valley — a paradise of switchbacks and geological wonders. The grand finale is the legendary Tizi n’Tichka pass: miles of technical, twisty tarmac draped over the old caravan routes that once linked the north to the sub-Sahara. The journey wraps in the sensory explosion of Marrakech’s Old Medina, the perfect place to decompress before the flight home.

Why Ride Morocco

• Legendary passes — well-maintained tarmac winding through the Atlas Mountains, crossing more than ten high-altitude passes including the famous Tizi n’Tichka at over 2,260 metres.
• Off-road heritage — endless dirt trails made famous by the original Dakar Rally.
• Diverse terrain — 2,500 km of dramatic coastline, ancient cedar forests inhabited by monkeys, and deep nomadic canyons like the Todgha Gorges.
• Rich culture & cuisine — a culture shaped by Berber, Arab and Sub-Saharan influences, and world-class Moroccan food to refuel on after a long day in the saddle.
