Your Bhutan adventure begins at Bagdogra Airport, where the WoW Tours team welcomes you. After a short transfer to Siliguri you collect your motorcycle, complete a full ride briefing and gear up. The first ride carries you through the lush foothills of the Eastern Himalayas to Jaigaon, the bustling Indian border town, before crossing into Phuentsholing. Our guide handles all immigration formalities. Check in, meet your fellow riders over a welcome dinner, and get ready for the roads ahead.

After breakfast, meet your Road Captain for a rider briefing covering Bhutan’s riding etiquette, road conditions and safety protocols. Once your motorcycles clear the Bhutan Road Safety & Transport Authority, you roll out onto the legendary Phuentsholing–Thimphu Highway — Bhutan’s first national highway. Expect sweeping bends, cascading waterfalls, deep river gorges and endless mountain vistas as you climb from subtropical foothills into cool Himalayan highlands. Pause at Gedu for panoramic views and take a tea stop above the valleys near Chukha. By late afternoon you arrive in the beautiful Paro Valley, with time to explore the National Museum (Ta Dzong) and Paro’s markets and cafés.

Today you trade riding boots for hiking shoes. A short ride takes you to the trailhead for one of the world’s most rewarding hikes — the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), clinging to a sheer cliff nearly 900 metres above the Paro Valley. The trail winds through pine forest strung with prayer flags, past spectacular viewpoints and a famous hillside café. Back in Paro, unwind with a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath, then wander the town’s handicraft shops and markets before dinner.

One of the highlights of the expedition. The road climbs through dense alpine forest and endless switchbacks to Chele La Pass at 3,988 m — the highest motorable pass in Bhutan. At the summit, hundreds of prayer flags flutter against the Himalayas, with views of Mt. Jomolhari (7,326 m) and Jichu Drake on a clear day. Descend towards Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital — a city with no traffic lights at all. In the afternoon visit the towering Buddha Dordenma, the Takin Preserve, and Simply Bhutan, a living museum of the country’s heritage.

Smooth tarmac, flowing corners and crisp mountain air carry you up to Dochula Pass (3,100 m), where the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens stand against a Himalayan backdrop. On a clear day you can see Gangkar Puensum (7,497 m), the highest unclimbed mountain in the world. The road then descends through dense forest into the warmer Punakha Valley. In the afternoon explore the magnificent Punakha Dzong at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, then walk through rice fields and villages to Chimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility.

Today is all about the ride. Leave Punakha early and head deep into the Bhutanese highlands on one of the country’s most scenic routes — dense pine forest, rolling hills and remote mountain villages open into the breathtaking Phobjikha Valley, a pristine glacial basin with barely any traffic. Visit the historic Gangtey Monastery perched above the wetlands. Between November and February the valley becomes a sanctuary for the endangered black-necked cranes that migrate in from the Tibetan Plateau. Ride back to Punakha with a completely different perspective on the same mountain roads.

One final full day in the saddle. Retrace the legendary mountain roads back over Dochula Pass for a last panoramic look at Bhutan’s snow-capped peaks, then enjoy a thrilling descent through dense forest, valleys and waterfalls as alpine terrain gives way to subtropical foothills. Your Road Captain picks the best scenic stops along the way. Arrive in Phuentsholing by late afternoon and celebrate the journey with your fellow riders.

Siliguri

After breakfast our team assists with Bhutan exit and immigration formalities before you cross back into India for the final ride to Bagdogra Airport or Siliguri. The route through the Himalayan foothills offers one last stretch of open road. Bid farewell to your fellow riders and head home with lifelong friendships and memories of some of the finest mountain roads in the Himalayas.
